Hi, so a lot has happened since the spring, mainly nature has been busy growing all manner of things to fill every spare bit of space! But what has the project achieved so far? Well...
- The saplings that we planted along the north hedge are mainly looking very healthy and have taken to their new home very well. Some of us cleared the undergrowth around them to check on growth and give them more light.
- The clearance work undertaken up to April gave us a good chance to keep on top of the brambles, but there are still plenty! Thanks go to Langford Lakes for the loan of a magnificent hedge clearance tool.
- A barrow full of rubbish from the undergrowth has been taken for disposal / recycling, including bits of an old bedstead, some historic bottles and quite a few golf balls!
- The fallen timber under the veteran ash has been cleared up and the recumbent limb modified to make a seat for quiet contemplation and the area in front of this cleared ready for some future planting.
- The flora survey of the area has shown some interesting plants, such as an Early Purple Orchid amongst others, and the list is growing as the season progresses. Also a bee's nest has been spotted in the trunk up in the old ash tree above the 'contemplation' seat.
- The first load of donated wood chip has been spread onto the new path and with a few more loads this should be in a good useable state.
- A series of drone photos have been taken to allow an improved map of the triangle to be drawn up and then ground plan ideas more easily discussed. Thanks to Nick G-M, the expert drone pilot!
- An inspection of the ash trees has unfortunately shown two more of concern - watch this space.
The next steps will involve developing a planting scheme and getting plants ready to go in the ground before winter hits. If this all interests you, or if you have plants to donate - please get in touch!!
Thanks to all the volunteers who have been involved so far...

Fascinating update. Thanks. It would be interesting to see the drone photos and get a better sense of the changes over time.
