Conservation Group
Conservation is only one of the things that this group will do, because we do not just want to keep things as they are. Sometimes our tasks will involve restoration, sometimes recovery, sometimes just clearing things up. Check the Events page for upcoming activities and contact us if you would like to lend a hand. You're always welcome just to pop along and chat!
There are two main areas of activity:
On the Common, supervised by the Somerset Wildlife Trust:
Coppicing; clearing bracken or invasive plants; other seasonal tasks.
Elsewhere in the Parish:
On the Triangle; down Langford Lane; on some public verges; perhaps in a patch of someone’s field – any offers?

What You Can Do
Contact the group using this address:
Greener.lb.biodiversity@gmail.com
Let us know how you would like to be involved. You may know somewhere in the parish which would benefit from attention. You may have room in your garden for a few native saplings. You may enjoy wielding a slasher, a lopper or a bowsaw. Just let us know.
Bee-Lines
Our region of the UK is home to nationally rare and threatened bees, and for some species, the South of England supports a national stronghold or the last known population in the UK including the Brown-banded carder bee (Bombus humilis), Long-horned bee (Eucera longicornis), Shrill carder bee (Bombus sylvarum), Potter Flower Bee (Anthophora retusa) and Phantom Hoverfly (Doros profuges).
The West of England B-Lines Project is a partnership between Buglife and Avon Wildlife Trust, and will create a network of B-Lines linking wildflower-rich areas across the West of England from the west to the east, and from the north to the south, linking the Cotswolds with the Mendips, cities to the countryside, and the coast to the hills.
